5/20/08 -- MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM COMPLETES SEASON
The Ironmen Middle School team completed its 2008 spring season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Shikellamy this afternoon. Over the 6-week season, the team earned a 6-2-1 overall record with both losses coming in one-goal defeats to Lewisburg, 0-1 away on 5/13, and 2-3 (OT) home in the Hartman Field Middle School Tournament Final on 5/17. On aggregate, Danville finished 17 goals for and 7 against, as the Ironmen defense earned four shutout results.

11/7/07 -- TAMIR KHEIRI NAMED ALL-STATE & SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA
Senior Danville forward TAMIR KHEIRI was recognized as All-State by the coaches of the Susquehanna Valley League and the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association following his performance during the 2007 season. KHEIRI played in 19 matches (16 starts) and was the team's leading goal scorer with 24. He also added seven assists, giving him 55 total points. The marks complete his career goal and assist totals over three varsity seasons (2005-07) at 43 and 12 (98 points), respectively. KHEIRI's 43 career goals are tied for 5th all-time in Danville history.
KHEIRI was also recognized by the NSCAA on the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Boys High School Scholar All-America team. He was one of 35 players from across the country named to the squad.
KHEIRI is the eighth boys soccer player from Danville to be named All-State and first since 2000. Previous honorees were (years recognized in parenthesis): RICH MORRIS '88 (1987); TIM HALTERMAN '89 (1988); ANDY SKIENDZIELEWSKI '92 (1991); MARK MARTINSON '97 (1996); MATT DILTZ '98 (1997); EVAN HARLOR '00 (1999); RYAN STRANGE '01 (2000). KHEIRI is the first Danville player to be named scholar all-america. MARTINSON and HARLOR were also named to the NSCAA/Umbro All-Region team in 1996 and 1999, respectively.

11/7/07 -- FIVE IRONMEN NAMED ALL-LEAGUE
Five Danville players -- senior goalkeeper JOSH HACKENBERG, senior forward TAMIR KHEIRI, junior defender TYLER MARSHALL, senior midfielder BRYCE PERLES and sophomore defender RYAN REICHARD -- were voted to the Susquehanna Valley League's (SVL) Eastern Division 2007 All-League team. HACKENBERG, KHEIRI, MARSHALL and PERLES were named to the first team, and REICHARD to the second.
HACKENBERG, MARSHALL and REICHARD were part of Danville's defense, which posted 10 shutouts on the season. HACKENBERG played in all 22 matches (22 starts) and compiled a 17-3-2 record. Over the 2007 season he conceded 16 goals, made 97 saves and finished with a goals against average of 0.74. HACKENBERG's Danville career ends with an overall record of 31-8-5, 171 saves, 0.77 GAA and 20 shutouts. His 20 career shutouts are tied for third all-time at Danville. MARSHALL played in 22 matches (19 starts) as on outside defender, while REICHARD played in 21 matches (21 starts) as a central defender.
KHEIRI played in 19 matches (16 starts) and was the team's leading goal scorer with 24. He also added seven assists, giving him 55 total points. PERLES played in 22 matches (22 starts) and notched 11 goals and 18 assists. The marks complete his career goal and assist totals over three varsity seasons (2005-07) at 15 and 33 (63 points), respectively. PERLES' 18 assists in 2007 set an all-time Danville HS single-season record and his 33 career assists top the all-time list.
Both KHEIRI and HACKENBERG were first-team representatives on the SVL's 2006 Eastern Division team. KHEIRI also appeared on the SVL's 2005 Eastern Division second-team.
Danville head coach Chris Johns was also recognized as the SVL's 2007 "AA" Coach of the Year.

11/11/06 -- FOUR IRONMEN NAMED ALL-LEAGUE
Four Danville players -- junior goalkeeper JOSH HACKENBERG, junior forward TAMIR KHEIRI, senior defender PHIL WEIR and senior midfielder AARON WERTMAN -- were voted to the Susquehanna Valley League's Eastern Division 2006 first team. HACKENBERG and WEIR were part of Danville's defense, which posted 10 shutouts on the season, including a school-record six in a row. HACKENBERG played in all 22 matches (21 starts) and compiled a 14-5-3 record. On the campaign, he conceded 18 goals, made 76 saves and finished with a goals against average of 0.84. WEIR played in 20 matches (19 starts) as on outside defender. KHEIRI played in 21 matches (15 starts) and was the team's leading goal scorer with 13. He also added five assists, giving him 31 total points. The marks push his career goal and assist totals to 19 and 5, respectively. WERTMAN, one of four senior captains, played in 19 matches (18 starts) and tallied seven goals and four assists. The marks complete his career goal and assist totals over three varsity seasons (2004-06) at 15 and 9, respectively. Both KHEIRI and WERTMAN were second-team representatives on the SVL's 2005 Eastern Division team. In 2004, WERTMAN received honorable mention recognition by The Press Enterprise (Bloomsburg, PA) as a sophomore midfielder. Danville head coach Chris Johns was also recognized as the SVL's 2006 "AA" Coach of the Year.

11/10/06 -- FORMER IRONMEN SET TO COMPETE IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
SETH FORNWALT '05 will make his second appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament for York College (PA), who are currently ranked #2 in the nation by the NSCAA. The Spartans, whose record stands at 19-0-2, will host Hobart College (NY) in a second-round match on Saturday, November 11, 2006. York won a second consecutive Capitol Athletic Conference championship in 2006 and earned the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. As a sophomore FORNWALT has scored three goals and notched two assists for the Spartans in 2006, while appearing in 15 matches in the York midfield. York is riding a 38-match unbeaten streak, which dates back to the 2005 season. FORNWALT holds the Danville Boys Soccer career and single-season assist records with 29 and 17, respectively.

8/14/06 -- NEW ASSISTANT COACHES JOIN IRONMEN STAFF
Among the new faces for the 2006 season are assistants Nick Kindt and Tom Height. Coach Kindt had previously been with the program since its 1983 inception. After retiring as head boys' coach in 2002, Kindt served as a certified PIAA referee for three years. Tom Height, a Berwick native, is making his coaching debut. A four-year varsity player at Berwick High School, Coach Height played for two seasons at Elizabethtown College (PA) before transferring to Penn State University.

5/25/06 -- MIDDLE-SCHOOLERS COMPLETE SEASON
The Ironmen Middle School team completed its Spring 2006 season with a 2-0 victory at Selinsgrove behind a first-half MICHAEL MENSCH header from ANDREW GENTILUCCI. MORGAN HUMMEL completed the scoring with an individual effort in the second half. SCOTT HOLDREN kept a clean sheet in goal behind defenders RYAN REICHARD, JAMIE LYNN, CHARLES HANEY and GREG DIETZ. The team completed its campaign with an overall record of 6-3-1. Coaches Paul Kettlewell, Matt Fitzpatrick and Adam Brua lead the seventh- and eighth-graders to a regular season match record of 5-1-1, with the other results coming in the Ironmen's Danville Soccer Park Middle School Tournament on May 20.

11/15/05 -- SVL CHANGES FORMAT
The Susquehanna Valley League (SVL) has changed its divisional and scheduling format beginning next fall for the 2006 season. Now all teams in both the East and West divisions will play each other once, and matches played against all opponents in the SVL will count toward divisonal standings. In 2006, the SVL East member schools are Bloomsburg, Central Columbia, Danville, Lewisburg, Millville, Milton, Shikellamy, and Southern Columbia, while the SVL West consists of Hughesville, Jersey Shore, Midd-West, Mifflinburg, Montoursville, Selinsgrove, Warrior Run, and Williamsport. The top teams in each divison will still meet in a league championship match at the end of the regular season, which Danville has most recently won in 2001 after previously winning overall titles in 1996, 1999 and 2000. The Ironmen were also finalists in 1995 and 1997.

11/11/05 -- THREE IRONMEN NAMED ALL-LEAGUE

Junior midfielder NICK SMITH was voted to the Susquehanna Valley League's Eastern Division 2005 first team. Smith started 18 of the Ironmen's 19 matches, scored three goals and registered three assists. Sophomore forward TAMIR KHEIRI and junior defender AARON WERTMAN were recognized as second-team representatives. Kheiri's six goals led the team in scoring, and Wertman made his mark in the back after being moved to defense midway through the season. In 2004 Wertman received honorable mention recognition by The Press Enterprise (Bloomsburg, PA) as a midfielder.

11/7/05 -- IRONMEN ALUMNUS MAKES FIRST APPEARANCE IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
SETH FORNWALT '05 is slated to make his first appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament for York College (PA). The Spartans, whose record currently stands at 17-2-2, will travel to Norfolk, VA, where they will play the host school, Virginia Wesleyan College, in a first-round match on Saturday, November 12, 2005. York won its second Capitol Athletic Conference championship Saturday and earned the school's first-ever spot in the NCAA Tournament. As a freshman FORNWALT has logged one goal and two assists for the Spartans, and started more than half the season's matches in the midfield. FORNWALT holds the Danville Boys Soccer career and single-season assist records with 29 and 17, respectively.

5/21/05 -- MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAMS FINISH SEASON

Danville's newly re-established middle school boys soccer team finished its inaugural season with a strong showing at a round-robin tournament featuring Midd-West, Selinsgrove and Danville. Coached by Paul Kettlewell, Matt Fitzpatrick and Adam Brua, player interest was enthusiastic - almost 40 7th- and 8th-grade boys participated. The middle school team is a valuable addition to the Ironmen soccer program, and players and coaches are looking forward to spring. 10/16/04 -- PROGRAM REACHES 300TH WIN MILESTONE
The Ironmen soccer program marked its 300th win with a convincing 6-0 victory over Millville on Senior Night, October 16, 2004. The team was led by all-league seniors SETH FORNWALT, TIM HARRIS and SAM KINDT. FORNWALT's assist to HARRIS in the first half was his career 29th and 17th of the season, both school records. KINDT's two goals brought him to 50 in his career. With the result, the Ironmen also secured their 15th consecutive PIAA District IV "AA" playoff berth.
