Selinsgrove @ Danville (T, 2-2, OT)
The Ironmen came from behind to tie the Seals 2-2 in Ironmen Stadium as both sides completed the 2008 PHAC regular season. The match was rescheduled from Saturday, September 27. Danville got on the scoresheet in only the 2nd minute as Selinsgrove conceded an own goal off a deep throw-in from Ironmen junior RYAN REICHARD. Selinsgrove responded on one of their few chances of the half through sophmore Jared Newman in minute 13. After the break, Selinsgrove sophomore Alex Lupolt found space in the Danville defense before just beating junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN and caroming off the far post for a 2-1 lead in the 54th minute. The Ironmen found the equalizer as junior SHANE BROSS got his first Varsity goal off an assist from fellow junior DYLAN CROPF in the 74th minute. The goal originated from one of Danville's 8 corner kicks on the night. Neither team could find the winner through two 10-minute extra time periods. The draw was Danville's third of the season and second in as many matches against Selinsgrove in 2008. The contest was the Ironmen's fifth match of the season requiring extra time, of which their record was 1-1-3. Danville completes its 2008 season with an overall record of 4-11-3 (3-10-3 PHAC) with 15 goals for and 25 against with 4 shutouts for HOLDREN on aggregate. The Danville JV squad lost its final match of the season with Selinsgrove, 0-2, on goals in either half. The JV squad completes the 2008 season with a final record of 12-4-2. The tie was the final match for 8 Danville seniors: GREG BOWSER, DAVID FANELLI, BEN FORBES, ERIC KISHBAUGH, TYLER MARSHALL, TYLER ROSINI, ANDY SANDERS and ERIC SNOVER.

Danville @ Montoursville (L, 1-3)
Montoursville put two goals past Danville in the first 15 minutes to open an early advantage they would not relinquish in a 3-1 result over the visiting Ironmen. It took only 6 minutes for Warriors junior John McDonnell to put Montoursville ahead and senior Travis Heap doubled the lead in the 15th. The Ironmen halved the lead on a headed goal from senior DAVID FANELLI at the back post directly from an ERIC KISHBAUGH corner in minute 30. As the Ironmen pushed for the equalizer in the second half, Montoursville junior Adam Knoebel recorded the insurance goal for the Warriors in the 62nd minute. In the JV match, Danville defeated Montoursville 3-0 on goals from freshman MATT WERTMAN (assist to freshman DYLAN FRIDAY), FRIDAY (assist to WERTMAN) and junior FILIPPO GUARINO on an unassisted solo effort that started in the Ironmen half of the field before culminating in a goal 7 seconds from time. Danville concludes the 2008 season hosting Selinsgrove in a PHAC match in Ironmen Stadium on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m.

Danville @ East Juniata (L, 0-2)
The host Tigers broke down the Ironmen defense twice in a four-minute span midway through the first half in a 2-0 win. East Juniata senior Trent Burris capitalized on an assist from junior Mitchell Goodling in the 23rd before junior Brandon Dressler took another Goodling assist in minute 27 to complete the scoreline. Danville was awarded a penalty kick in the 75th minute for a foul on senior ANDY SANDERS in the box. Ironmen senior ERIC KISHBAUGH's attempt was smothered by East Junaita junior goalkeeper Ryan Smartwood to preserve the shutout. The East Juniata coaching staff and Danville junior MICHAEL MENSCH were both booked in the second half. The road loss was the second in as many nights for Danville. In JV action, Danville came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw. Freshman MATT WERTMAN was assisted by freshman DYLAN FRIDAY on a corner in the latter part of the second half. Danville is off until they travel to Montoursville for a PHAC match on Wedsday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.

Danville @ Milton (L, 0-1)
Milton made a second half goal stand up in a 1-0 PHAC victory over visiting Danville. After controlling much of the first-half play, but failing to capitalize on the advantage, Milton senior Mike Grasso beat Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN n in the 48th minute from distance on a direct kick for the only tally of the match. Danville junior MICHAEL MENSCH had an apparent goal called back in the waning moments of play on an offside call as the Ironmen pushed for the equalizer. The loss mathematically eliminates Danville from District IV playoff contention by dropping the Ironmen to 4-9-2 with only three matches remaining (a .500 record is needed to qualify). In JV action, Danville reversed the Varisty result, 1-0, on a direct kick from freshman DYLAN FRIDAY for the only score of the match. Danville travels tomorrow to play East Juniata in a non-league match on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m.

Williamsport @ Danville (W, 4-3)
The host Ironmen (4-8-2, 3-8-2 PHAC) outlasted the visting Millionaires, 4-3, on goals by four different players. Danville struck in only the 7th minute through senior BEN FORBES who took as assist from juniors DYLAN CROPF and ANDREW GENTILUCCI before junior MICHAEL MENSCH would finish an assist from senior ERIC KISHBAUGH in minute 15. Williamsport would get on the board through an own goal just ahead of the half to cut their defecit to 2-1 at the break. The Ironmen would waste little time (47th minute) restoring the 2-goal advantage when senior GREG BOWSER took another KISHBAUGH assist from inside of 10 yards. The Millionaires' senior Patrick Smith got a goal back off a corner scramble to make the match 3-2 in the 52nd minute before Iromen senior ANDY SANDERS would again build the lead at 4-2 unassisted in the 64th minute. Williamsport added a consolation goal in the 70th minute off junior Adam Neidig's shot which Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN initially convered before the ball slipped out of his grasp and just over the line. Ironmen junior ANDREW GENTILUCCI completed the job by clearing a Millionaire attempt off the line at the back post off a direct kick in minute 76 to preserve the result for Danville. In JV action, Danville drew Williamsport 0-0. Danville next travels to Milton for a PHAC match on Wednesday, October 8th at 4:00 p.m.

Danville @ Mifflinburg (L, 1-2, OT)
The host Wildcats got two goals from junior Mike Wagner to defeat the Ironmen. Ironmen junior DYLAN CROPF opened the scoring for Danville from inside the six in the 18th minute off assists from junior MICHAEL MENSCH and senior GERG BOWSER. The lead would hold through the 50th minute until Wagner took a through ball from junior Wes Doebler and slipped between two Ironmen defenders and muscled the ball past Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN to level the match. Both teams would push for a winner through regulation and the first overtime period. Wagner again found the net six minutes from time in the 94th minute when a scramble in front of the Danville goal resulted in Wildcat senior Colin Sweet assisting on Wagner's golden goal. In the JV match, Danville defeated Mifflinburg, 1-0, on a second half goal from freshman ROBBIE RILEY (assisted by freshman DYLAN FRIDAY). Danville hosts Williamsport in a PHAC match on Monday, October 6th on Varsity Field at 4:00 p.m.

After having a goal disallowed in the first half, Danville conceded a lone second-half strike in Ironmen Stadium on Senior Recognition Night before dropping a 0-1 result. Ironmen senior ERIC KISHBAUGH lined up a direct kick from just outside box which was redirected by junior ANDREW GENTILUCCI past senior goalkeeper Evan Gombert for an apparent goal midway through the first half. The referee blew the play back for an Ironmen offside. Braves senior Nathan Kerstetter would capitalize on one of the few chances Shikellamy created after the break on a 45th minute individual effort from a difficult angle on the far baseline. The Ironmen's best chances were through juniors SHANE BROSS and DYLAN CROPF. The Ironmen also owned advantages on shots (10-6) and corners (7-0). Danville shutout Shikellamy 3-0 in the JV match to up their record to 9-3. Danville next travels to Mifflinburg on Saturday, October 4 for a 3:00 p.m. PHAC match.

The host Mustangs claimed an own goal when the ball skipped off a wet surface before Ironmen junior RYAN REICHARD redirected a cross past junior SCOTT HOLDREN in the 4th minute of the match. Midd-West earned the better chances up to the break with a 10-2 shot advantage in the half. Danville created several chances of which they could not convert through the second half with the best looks falling to junior DYLAN CROPF and senior ERIC KICHBAUGH before Midd-West sophomore Corey Goss finished senior Colton Moyer's cross into the net in minute 67 to complete the scoreline at 2-0 in favor of the Mustangs at Sports Boosters' Athletic Park. Midd-West senior Ty Knepp, Danville senior ANDY SANDERS and the Ironmen bench were booked in the match. In the JV game, Midd-West defeated Danville, 2-1. The Ironmen goal came off freshman GRIFFIN REBER's strike from distance in the first half. Danville next hosts Shikellamy at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Recognition Night in Ironmen Stadium on Wednesday, October 1.

Danville @ Lewisburg (L, 0-2)
Lewisburg registered goals in both halves of play in posting a 2-0 win over visiting Danville. The Ironmen (3-5-2, 2-5-2 PHAC) controlled more of the first half play before Green Dragon senior Tyler Aikey took an assist from junior Patrick Swank and was able to turn his defender in the box and beat junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN in the 34th minute. Lewisburg sophomore Nicholas Talabiska added the insurance goal off a shot from the top of the box following a series of chances resulting from a Green Dragon corner. The Ironmen's best look of the match was through junior midfielder SHANE BROSS' push forward and subsequent volley which sailed past the upper corner in the second half. In the JV match, Lewisburg repeated the 2-0 result with goals in either half to hand the Ironmen JV squad its 2nd loss of the season (8-2). Danville next hosts Selinsgrove on Saturday, September 27 for a 7:00 p.m. PHAC match in Ironmen Stadium.

Montoursville @ Danville (W, 2-0)
Danville (3-4-2, 2-4-2 PHAC) scored goals on either side of the halftime break to defeat Montoursville, 2-0, in a PHAC match on Varsity Field. Senior DAVID FANELLI found himself at the back post and slotted the match-winner past Montoursville's junior goalkeeper Andrew DeSanto in the 40th minute. Assists on the goal were credited to junior ANDREW GENTILUCCI and senior ANDY SANDERS. Senior ERIC KISHBUAGH would then assist SANDERS from the left side of the box on a headed goal in the 41st minute as the second half was just underway. FANELLI's goal was the first of his varsity career and the shutout was the 4th on the season for junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN and the Ironmen defense. In the JV match, Danville defeated Montoursville 2-1 on goals from freshman MATT WERTMAN, with the assist to freshman DYLAN FRIDAY, before FRIDAY would finish to scoring after taking an assist from freshman ROBBIE RILEY. Danville travels to Lewisburg on Wednesday, September 24 for a 4:30 p.m. PHAC match.

Danville @ Warrior Run (W, 2-1, OT)
Danville junior MORGAN HUMMEL tallied two goals on the afternoon giving the Ironmen a 2-1 extra time victory in Turbotville. HUMMEL bent a 20-yard shot up and over Warrior Run senior goalkeeper David Marr in only the 4th minute to open the scoring. Junior DYLAN CROPF provided the assist. Warrior Run senior Joe Bryer would get an assist from senior Tom Witmer for the equalizer against the run of play in the 49th minute. Danville repeatedly pushed for the winner in the second half and extra time before senior ERIC KISHBAUGH provided the assist to HUMMEL who ended the match by turning his defender in the box and beating Marr again in minute 87. The Iromen outshot the Defenders 11-7 and held an 13-1 corner kick advantage. The match was an inter-divisional Heartland Conference contest. HUMMEL's goals were the first and second of his varsity career. In JV action, Danville downed Warrior Run 3-0 on goals from freshmen JEFF HAUCK, DYLAN FRIDAY and junior FILIPPO GUARINO. Danville hosts Montoursville at 4:30 p.m. in a PHAC match on Monday, September 22 at Varsity Field.

Milton (5-2-1, 3-2-1 PHAC) was able to outlast Danville (1-4-2, 1-4-2 PHAC) 2-1 in a PHAC match this aftenoon. Milton senior NIck Feguson would open the scoring for the Black Panthers on a solo effort in the 20th minute. Danville senior ERIC KISHBAUGH would then assist junior MICHAEL MENSCH on a corner kick to knot the game at 1. MENSCH's tally -- his third in as many matches -- was headed on goal and awarded by the referee in a close 61st minute decision. Milton would go on to claim victory through an own goal in the 66th minute off the outside of junior GREG DIETZ's right foot and past junior SCOTT HOLDREN. In the JV match, 10-man Danville edged Milton, 1-0, on freshman JEFF HAUCK's goal (assisted by freshman DYLAN FRIDAY on a corner kick) late in the second half. Danville travels to Warrior Run for a non-league 11:00 a.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 20.

Danville juniors MICHAEL MENSCH and RYAN REICHARD earned a goal and assist, respectively, for the sceond consecutive match to lift the visiting Ironmen (1-3-2, 1-3-2 PHAC) over the host WIlliamsport Millionaires (3-3-1, 2-3-1 PHAC) at Sheridan Field. Danville junior MORGAN HUMMEL took a quick throw-in to REICHARD who targeted a right-footed ball which would find MENSCH's head just outside the Williamsport 6-yard box before being redirected past Milliionaire goalkeeper Logan Synoracki inside the back post for the lone score in minute 28. Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN earned his third shutout from six matches on the season. In JV action, Danville duplicated the 1-0 scoreline through freshmen DYLAN FRIDAY (assisted by junior GRIFFIN REBER) in the second half. Danville next hosts Milton at 4:30 p.m. in a PHAC match on Tuesday, September 16 at Varsity Field.

The visiting Wildcats rallying from a 0-1 halftime defecit to down the Ironmen 2-1 at Youth Night in Ironmen Stadium. Danville (0-3-2, 0-3-2 PHAC) junior MICHAEL MENSCH got the home side on the board in the 23rd minute off an assist from junior RYAN REICHARD as MENSCH's attempt at goal took a slight redirection before settling inside the back post. The lead would hold up until minute 55 when Mifflinburg (4-2-1, 2-2-1 PHAC) junior Jake Shively lofted a shot into an open Ironmen net following a scramble for the ball near the top of the box. Wildcat junior Noah Spath would get the eventual match-winner in the 62nd minute off an assist from junior Michael Wagner after another scramble in the box. In the JV match, Danville repeated their 3-0 scoreline from Thursday as they defeated Mifflinburg by the same margin on first-half goals from freshmen DYLAN FRIDAY and GRIFFIN REBER (2). Danville next travels to Williamsport for a 4:30 p.m. PHAC match on Tuesday, September 16 at Sheridan Field.

Danville (0-2-2, 0-2-2 PHAC) junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN and the Ironmen defense -- consisting of juniors RYAN REICHARD, GREG DIETZ, JAMIE LYNN, CHARLES HANEY and seniors BEN FORBES, GREG SNOVER and TYLER MARSHALL -- secured their second shutout of the season after an extra-time draw with Shikellamy (2-2-1, 1-1-1 PHAC) in Sunbury. Danville's best chances came through sevaral of junior MORGAN HUMMEL's attempts at goal in the first half, while Shikellamy nicked the outside of the back post on a shot from junior Patrick Kohl in the second session of added time. In the JV match, Danville bounced back from its first loss of the season by defeating Shikellamy, 3-0, in a match shortened by darkness. The Ironmen JV goals came through freshmen DYLAN FRIDAY (twice) and MATT WERTMAN. One of FRIDAY's goals was assisted by junior JAMIE LYNN while FRIDAY completed the scoreline with a direct free kick out of the goalkeepers range. Danville hosts Mifflinburg for a PHAC match on Saturday, September 13 in Ironmen Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

Midd-West (4-0-0, 3-0-0 PHAC) senior Colton Moyer was assisted by senior Colby Gehers in the 66th minute for what would prove to be the difference in a PHAC Division I result over Danville (0-2-1, 0-2-1 PHAC) at Varsity Field. Despite being outshot, Danville's best look at goal came when senior GREG BOWSER's inswinging cross from the right endline found junior DYLAN CROPF's head inside the six. Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN conceded only his second goal of the season and first from the run of play. The 0-1 defeat was the Ironmen's second in three matches. In JV action, Danville dropped its first match of the season on a late goal from Midd-West, 0-1. Danville travels to Sunbury on Thursday, September 11 when visit Shikellamy at 4:30 p.m.

Danville (0-1-1, 0-1-1 PHAC) battled Selinsgrove (1-0-1, 1-0-1 PHAC) to 0-0 draw through regulation and extra time at Steffen Memorial Field. The Seals outshot the Ironmen 13-2 through the half and 17-7 overall and had a 9-7 corner advantage as both teams saw close chances throughout the match. Danville seniors ERIC KISHBAUGH, TYLER ROSINI and ANDY SANDERS had the best looks for the Ironmen while Selinsgrove sophomore Alex Lupolt and senior James Peeler gave the Seals their best chances. Ironmen junior SCOTT HOLDREN earned his first career shutout in his second start of the season, which included pushing a Selinsgrove corner off the crossbar to preserve the result in extra time in addition to several saves throughout regulation. In the JV match, Danville bested Selinsgrove 2-0 through goals from sophomore FILIPPO GUARINO and freshman STEVE BURKE. Burke was assisted by freshman GRIFFIN REBER. Danville returns to PHAC play on Tuesday, September 9 when they host visiting Midd-West at 4:30 p.m. on Varsity Field.

Lewisburg @ Danville (L, 0-1)
Visiting Lewisburg (1-0-0, 1-0-0 PHAC) nicked a 1-0 result in the innagural PHAC contest and season-opener for both teams in Ironmen Stadium. The Green Dragons earned the advantage making a 20th minute goal through senior Antonio DeCarvalho hold up. DeCarvalho pounced on a loose ball inside the Ironmen six which had resulted from a corner and beat Danville junior goalkeeper SCOTT HOLDREN and his defense inside the near post. Danville seniors ERIC KISHBAUGH and ANDY SANDERS were assessed cautions in the first half for unsporting behavior. Lewisburg sophomore Tom Magill was also cautioned in the second half for physical play. The Green Dragons had a goal whistled back in the second half for offsides. The Ironmen's (0-1-0, 0-1-0 PHAC) best chance came through a first half effort from junior MICHAEL MENSCH and a left-footed shot from distance by senior ANDY SANDERS in half number two. The Ironmen defeted the Green Dragons in the JV match, 2-1, through goals by freshmen MATT WERTMAN and DYLAN FRIDAY. Danville returns to PHAC play on Thursday, September 4 when they visit Selinsgrove at 4:30 p.m.
